I opened the window to get some breeze on my face while on the lathe. Good idea. Heat stroke bad.
Then I left the shop and didn't come back for 2 weeks (vacation). Forgot to close the window. Stupid.
I left a metal drawer full of metal tools open right under the open window.
Enter rain, enter humidity, now I have a rusty metal drawer full of rusty metal tools.
I'm sure the lathe didn't appreciate being close to the open window either.

Close your windows before leaving the shop.
This has been a PSA.

The title made me think stuff was gone. Here it would be if someone saw the window open, But I guess the rust is almost as bad unless it is just surface rust. Good luck on the unexpected cleaning. Evaporust Time.

Damn!! You have a paneled shop, I have very grimy, dirty semi- painted walls.......

It's an addition to my garage the previous owner installed and paneled. It's just a little smaller than a 1 car garage. Once I get electricity to my barn I'll be vacating the fancy paneled room and leave it for the wife. It's too nice and too small for my taste. I rather have something I'm not afraid to get dirty.
