clock repair hobby goes a little further....

Great story !!! Some years ago (35+) I worked in an apartment building with mainly former eastern European senior citizens. One of the Russian residents had a 100 yr old grandfather clock & he asked me to repair it. I spent a few hours every night for a full week completely dismantling the clock, making repairs and reassembling it. It was great fun (or at least I told myself it was) I didn't charge him anything because I really wanted to see how this thing was made. Afterwards we became good friends. About 3 months later he presented me with some Russian made tools as a token of his thanks. It was all worth it. I don't work on many clocks today, but I have always admired the worksmanship of these beautiful clocks.
