I'm. Turning a 1 1/2 inch 4 insert cutter at 750 rpm at 4 inches a minute with a depth ot .075 .
The chips are coming off dark blue - purple , lots of them. What I'm milling is 2.5 inches by 6 inches long . I have to remove .750 . It's not making any noise , actually sounds good while cutting. Have already made 2 gallons of chips, insert life seems like it's going to be fine. Is this good or bad?
Thanks ron

No , cuts easy , the Amish brought it to me to make a replacement part. Seems to cut easy?
Thanks ron

Some steels blue easy.just keep lubing

Your not feeding fast enough, 3ipm minimum, for that rpm yields a .001 chip load per tooth.
The blue in the chips is good, it means the heat is getting pulled into the chip, check the workpiece for heat build up as well
