When I bought my lathe the PO threw in this chuck as part of the deal, he was cleaning out his storage shed. It is a 5" scroll chuck with a D1-4" mounting, my Weiler lathe uses a DIN5 mount so it has been sitting in my storage box (just as the PO did!). I am tempted to use it on my RT at some point.

Just wondering if anyone can identify the manufacturer.

THERE TYPICALLY IS A REMOVABLE MOUNTING PLATE ON THE BACK WITH THE POSTS & LOCKING TAPER .
THESE CAN SOMETIMES BE SWAPPED TO CONVERT A D1-5 TO A D1-4 .

THE CHUCK IN MY AVITAR WAS A D1-3 WHEN I GOT IT . IT IS NOW A D1-4 . SOME MACHINE WORK WAS INVOLVED .
THE NICE PART ABOUT THAT IS , THE NEW PLATE WILL MOUNT RIGHT ON YOUR LATHE !

NOT SURE IT IS WORTH IT FOR A CHINESE CHUCK .

That would be nice but I need a DIN-5, not a D1-5. I could make an adapter but I already have a 5" 3 jaw, it is a BSA (made in England) and it matches my BSA motorcycle!

The DIN has studs with nuts on the back of he chuck, they are inserted into holes on the spindle. The backside of the spindle has a rotating ring with keyhole slots which capture the nuts which are then tightened. On my lathe the spindle also serves as part of the C5 collet closer system.
