buying first lathe... opinions on TIDA TD4a

3 jaw & 4 jaw independent, steady, bunch of centers and boxes of tooling, backing plate, etc...

Thanks Giorgio... I think I may use that method but with the BXA... only because I already have a full BXA setup sitting around! BXA is for 10-15" Swings, I may be able to mill a bit off the base of the BXA if needed.

Yes, of course, mill a a tad off the bottom...

I ended up with a lifetime supply of 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch cutters so th AXA wasn't in the running for the TIDA. I'd like a BXA set too but didn't consider milling of the bottom if it didn't fit! In the meantime I just made an adapter for the tool post to handle the 1/2 inchers. Works ok but now I've got renewed interest, thanks.

Please keep me posted on your effort. Sound like you have everything right there to do it right. ...and posted pics are always appreciatd.
