Brown and Sharpe mic issue

On my 1-2 mic the thumb lock does not lock the mic. I removed the knob and compared it to my 0-1. The knob had a brass screw pressed into it. On the 1-2 the screw is pressed in more. Can anyone think of a way to pull the brass screw out a little so it will actually lock the mic? I have looked online for parts and have not been able to find a new knob or I would go that route.
