Hi guys, I,m new to this forum and I've spent alot of my time on here soaking up information and this is a great forum! great enough for me to hunt down and buy a 1961 J head 9x42 machine in fair shape. My first of probably many questions is it has a 3/4 horse single phase 220 motor on it. I haven't seen any info on this variation, any input on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I've only seen 1 hp pancake style on this machine. is this a standard Bridgeport motor, or a retrofit?

220 single phase was an option from Bridgeport. I've seen a few over the years. If I remember correctly they were normal looking pancake motors and they wouldn't instant reverse.

Thanks for the replies this motor is approx 8" high and the adjustment slot and pivot look oem and the switch is on the left side with forward-off reverse positions,it does not look aftermarket, I'am just happy I didn't have to spring for a phase converter because it all works like its supposed too
