I am cleaning up an old belt driven Boyar Shultz 612 Surface Grinder.

After taking everything apart, I am down to one piece I cannot figure out...

The table feed shaft.

I have the Pinion Gear removed.

There is a large screw cap on the far left side, I expected to find a poppet ball and spring under, nothing under this screw cap.

A grub screw on the top side of the casting.

The Shaft is spring loaded and should exit toward the operator.

Any ideas on how this comes apart?

After doing more reasearch, I found another person with the same problem.

The spring is on a collar, the collar is held in place with a roll pin.

The problem is, there is no room inside the casting to drive out the roll pin. You can punch it through, about 0.125, but not enough to grab it and pull it out.

Two reasons I want to remove this shaft:
1. To clean the bearings and ensure they are properly lubricated.
2. The end of the shaft, where the pinion drive gear goes, the hole is worn out and has caused the pin to break. I was thinking of turning the shaft 90 degrees and drilling a new hole.
