Here the way I do blind threading
I found a drawing on internet showing the why I do blind threads since 1970's.

You should be setting the compound to 30º on the opposite side of the vertical so you are cutting with the leading edge. Or just use the cross slide to advance the threading tool.

I put my compound at 90°.
The 30° was used for direct reading feed. I did find that out until 1979.
It grinding a lathe use about 11° for finer feed .
