I spent the past few days shopping for a new made in USA Baldor motor for my lathe, to replace the China FAIL motor. Initially I suffered Baldor sticker price shock but eventually I found a few retailers selling at more reasonable prices.

I was about to order the motor today when on a whim I decided to check around locally. Mostly on the chance that somebody had one in stock. I expected that the price would be sky high vs on-line yet my local 1 man motor shop's price was the lowest of all go figure. And it was in stock at the local Baldor warehouse.

$1,123
$832
$610
$595
$347 ebay
$332
$324 Local shop price WINNER!

This is a pic of the 1.5hp the 2hp is the same only it has a .875 shaft vs this .625. This 'Farm Duty' model is extra high torque and painted with an epoxy paint that will hold up better in nasty environments.
