I made this back mounted tool post about 20 years ago for my SB 10" lathe which I use for production. It was made from a block of 6061 Al I had laying around. The photo's explain how it works and attaches to the cross slide I got from "Andy", the fellow in Pennsylvania who does the castings. I can use cut off tools, turning tools, and also a scissors type knurling tool, all interchangeable on the back tool post. The S-4382 Cross Slide was designed for the 9" and 10K S.Bends, but worked fine on my "not so heavy" 10". It's just a little narrow on the 10".
It is a great addition to this lathe. Not sure if "Andy" is still making the castings (?). Great guy to deal with!

The website still is up, been eyeing the steady rest he sells.
