I have a PM-1030V lathe bought in 2013.
Bought a QCTP that is a direct fit on 2015 and later.

I need to open the bottom to about 7/8 from 1/2" to fit on the bolt that has a shoulder.

It looked like there is a threaded bolt that holds the Acme screw in the base. Tried to remove and no go. Talked to company and he said it is a press in.

IF I took it apart I would have to bore the base and cut the pin/bolt shorter.

I don't have a press to see if pinned.

Can I just drill out the bolt/pin and base as one?

Why not make a new post that doesn't require you to mod the base?

Not to argue but most of us go to a QCTP to get away from using the hassle of the 4-way. Your call, of course.

I have to agree. I can't see anyone wanting to go back to shimming tools.

My QCTP came with all the parts to mount it. I didn't need to use any parts from the 4 way tool post.
Can you not make what you need like Mikey mentioned in post 2?
