Hi everybody!
I bought a drill chuck made to fit into my mini mill 10mm collet. The chuck arrived in two parts: the main one and the "shaft" (taper?). The surface of the latter is completely flat: how should I assemble the two?
Just by pressing?
Hitting the back of the shaft with a hammer?
With a drop of epoxy?

Thank you!

Marco

Clean the taper and the hole in the chuck with paper towel with some solvent like alcohol then insert the taper and give it a blow with a mallet so it seats well.

Adhesive like epoxy should not be required.

Like they said it is a Taper fit, Like putting a tool in the tailstock on your lathe. But holds more with little space. If you get oil or anything else on either surface before you put them together they will not hold as well. Good luck.

I've done exactly as described in the video: it worked like a charm! Thank you to all of you!
