These pictures truly humiliate me and, alas, probably most of the other members of this forum:

I went out to my lathe and milling machine and sprayed a little WD40 on them and felt totally inadequate to their capabilities. They can do things that I can't tell them how to do. No matter how hard I could try, I'll never be able to come even close to what Louis Chenot has done.
I would cry, but salty tears would rust my machine tools.

Frank--as long as we are happy in our shops and enjoy making things we need--that's all that matters--there will always be someone that has more tools and more time and skills than us, but that doesn't mean that they are happier in their walk in life. keep working in your shop and learn from other members, and teach other members what you know that they need help with. that brings happiness and contentment--Dave

i try not to give up before starting a project. While his work is amazing, he spent countless hours building that. Chop a project into bits and pieces and each is attainable. The sum total is then a large project.
A year ago I wouldn't have tried making an ER16 collet holder for my Taig, then I just decided to try it, worst case I had filings and a smaller piece of metal. Voila, 2 hour of work: a working chuck for $3.60.

Sites such as ModelEngineMaker have many equal or greater skilled builders, try a working 18 cylinder radial.

I really love models, and this one is a remarkable accomplishment. Years ago I saw a beautiful Merlin engine this old white haired guy had built. It was at Cabin fever. It had a Mustang type prop on it. I have no idea where that engine is now. The builder by now is likely dead by now. They ran the engine, but a problem with the oil or fuel pump or something kept it from really taking off properly. It was a wonderful engine, but this more than tops it.
