I have a job coming up where I have to tap 7000+ holes in aluminum parts, I’m making. I’m going to be tapping #10-32, 1/4”-20, 3/8”-16 and finally 1/2”-13, using roll forming taps and the Franken-Drill and the Buck/Versa Tapper head.

Today, I traveled to Baum’s Castorine (Rome, NY) to pick up a gallon of tapping fluid, Baum’s Castorine manufactures, drawing fluids for the aluminum and copper wire industry, they are one of my customers. I use one of their aluminum drawing fluids for tapping, been using it for about 35+ yrs and at about $10/gal. I’ve used all kinds of tapping fluids, for me the Baum’s fluid, works the best.

The roll forming taps will be here by Wednesday of next week (according to supplier they will ship no later than Friday).
