Air Conditioning Problem

So, we finally have cool air but it's not as hot as yesterday, so not sure if it will keep up.
I put different filter in, since I changed it when things went south. So maybe the new one was more restrictive. . But between the cleaning and the filter I hope we are good.

I was told that the best test of performance was to measure the temperature at the air intake and the temperature at a close vent with the thermostat set to ensure cooling cycle. The difference between the two will give you a clue as to what is going on. I think a typical system will be between 16-22 DegF. If you have a non-contact IR temp sensor it only takes a second.

Air intake being a return?
Yesterday I was measuring 64 and 67 at two different vents one close and one farther away from the system.
Today, I am reading 61 and 63 using an infrared thermometer.

I don't know what the intake is, is it a return? The air filter area of the unit?

Look for 20 degrees Delta.

Air is coming out 20 degrees cooler than going in, period.

If air going in is 85, 65 comming out is good.

Intake = Return. This is just a test of how much your system is cooling the air. Air Temp at a vent minus air temp at the intake(return) = DeltaT.
