About to buy my first Lathe/Mill, Help!

The Shopfox gunsmith lathe and the Grizzly gunsmith are the same, just different color. Both would be fine. With a little looking a good used American lathe can be found. There are good chances of finding one not too far from you, Ohio, Pa., In., Il., all not that far. I have one of the RF-45 clones and am pleased with it, though again , you can search a little and find good used Am. machines a little cheaper. Looking can be fun if you're not in a hurry. ;)

I'm not sure I like the flexible tailstock idea. What's supposed to be the advantage?
 
Knudsen that would be great. I'm not in a hurry so I would like to find a good american machine within a month or so if your buddy is interested.

I'm also curious about the tail stock feature?
