This is the latest project, now nearing the end,

I have put photos of the build in the gallery if you want to follow its manufacture .

I had a very enjoyable time building it and hope to get years of pleasure from it.

Thanks for all the nice compliments.

I feel at this point a explanation of how it came about is in order

after building the 2 Congreave clocks,See(metalworking projects The first project) I wanted to build a clock with a pendulum escapement for my own education.
during the research I came across a design by Eliot Isaacs titled, A beginners clock, and its modification by Alec Price.

I liked the concept of this clock but felt it did not meet my requirements, so I had to think carefully about what i really wanted.

1 A clock that kept good time

2 Was good looking

3 Easy to build on my 7x12 and mini mill.

4 Weight driven with a 4ft drop

5 Little or no fileing or fiddly work.

6 A clean dial (no winding hole)

7 A long life (For those that come after)

8 Week running ( 8 days )

With this in mind I set about redesigning the beginners clock to meet my requirements.

All the fretting out can now be done on the mill including the crossing out of the wheels.
Apart from the support bar and the nipples on the cable. all the permanent joints are Loctite.

I feel I now have a clock that can be built by the Hobby Machinist at any level, even if you don't have a mill,

Do you want to do it ??? What are your thoughts on the subject

I will post the pdf of the Beginers clock seperately.

BRIAN.

Try again one at a time.
