I have an Enco 105-1110 mill drill (RF30). It has a 2 hp motor on it. The name plate says it draws almost 30 amps and that it is 120v only. I didn't think they made motors that big that didn't have a 220v option. The drum switch on it says its only rated for 15 amps! As far as I can tell everything is original equipment. Inside the motor cover there are 4 wires that go into the motor. Any ideas, is this actually a 120v only motor? 20160403_201032.jpg 20160403_201237.jpg 20160403_201152.jpg 20160403_201301.jpg

Odd but not unknown. I'm going to be nice and not say anything bad about bean counter involvement. My guess is wires 1 & 2 are the run winding and 3 & 4 are the starting winding.

the switch is rated 15a@250v, it's sufficient for the motor.
i do find it odd to find a 115v motor @ 2 hp

I've been looking on home depots site at 30 amp plugs and recepticals. There are so many options. Are there any benifits to the different types or any down falls to certain ones?

you are going to need a 30 amp 125v plug and connector
or something like this:

and a 30 a 115v breaker on a dedicated circuit.

I have been running it on a 20 amp circuit for the time I have had it. It seems like when the garage is cold (winter) it will trip the breaker on start up only. But once everything warms up it runs fine. I want to get away from this setup, as I know it's not right, and also its a major PITA to go flip the breaker when I want to work. If I could afford it I would go 3ph an vfd, but that isn't gonna happen any time soon.

I saw those on HD site. The thing I don't get is why is it labeled "travel trailer use only".

the home depot will have ones without the trailer use only,
it was meant for illustration.
