15l Slant Bed Lathe

Does anyone have any experience with the tormach 15l slant bed lathe? I'm looking into buying one and would like to hear opinions and experiences

Hi Chris,

Did you try contacting Tormach and asking them if there were any lathe owners in your area that would be willing to give you a demo? CNCZone has a sub forum for the slant bed lathe also http://www.cnczone.com/forums/tormach-slant-lathe/?s=735b5c888ae5d52388a1d29264a7fcbe

A friend bought one but hasn't had the time to set it up yet. I will let you know what he thinks after he has a chance to play with it for a while.

+++1 on cnczone, they have a very active Tormach group, and probably a dozen lathe owners, some of whom use their machines for production.

Hey Chris, have you made a decision on the lathe yet? I had a chance to go to my friends house last week and play with the Tormach lathe, We used the Pathpilot conversational programing and it only took us about 30 minutes to figure it out and cut the first part, for more complicated parts CAM software would probably be needed. The lathe seems like a very nice product and I hope to order one around the end of the year.

Yeah if I get a cnc it will be the tormach. Just waiting to see if the opportunity turns out to bring enough business. I'm currently not in a financial position to purchase a cnc machine without consistent work flow. I do wish I could find one locally that I could demo before I buy one.
