Reconditioning The Champion Forge Camel Back Drill Press

Paul,
I like the drill press too. I am going to forward some of your pictures to the Mike the previous owner if you don't mind. I told him about your progress and he is excited and pleased that the drill press is in a loving home and getting the attention it needed.
You will beat me on the power hacksaw restore race. :whiteflag: The little hacksaw was adopted by forum member Gary Max today. I just got back home after meeting him up at the Nashville fairgrounds this afternoon. He has wanted it ever since I brought it home and I really did not need another saw project. I still have three bandsaws in the shop and all need attention of one kind or another. Letting Gary give the power hacksaw a new home will give me more time for the others and the little saw will be well taken care of. However Gary intends to make it earn it's keep. He is going to get rid of the big bandsaw that he restored and put wheels under giving him more room in his shop. He will then use the little power hacksaw for what little metal he needs cut. I plan on getting down to two bandsaws, the WF Wells horizontal and the DoAll vertical. The Delta/Rockwell vertical will be put up for adoption when the DoAll is up and working.
Looking forward to seeing the Champion making chips.

Haven't been working on the drill press for a few days, Been cleaning the shop up some you can work all day and it doesn't look like you did any thing.
Any way I cleaned up the motor stand and the motor plate and painted them. I started to clean up the motor and found out it was froze up. Good thing I had another bone the same. I'll fix the other one later on.
I used a Needle Scaler to remove the paint and most of the rust. Any body that hasn't used one to remove paint should try it.
I moved the Drill Press where its resting place will be, I had it up front to work on it but it was getting in the way. And theres not that much to do and I still have it setting on the pipes so its easy to roll out to work on.

This well be the last update on the drill press all that it left is the table setting the motor stand and splicing some belts. I have the tools to do that with i think mine will do up to a 8" belt.
The hand wheel is of a another brand and I had to bore it out make a sleeve and bore that to the right size. I wired brushed it and I'm going to polish the rim and paint the spokes black.

I think you should make at least one more post with pics of the motor installed and the machine fully finished.
Maybe drag it outside so we can see it in all its glory away from the clutter of the workshop (or tidy up the workshop around it
