Hi All,
I have just picked up a Lewis 10" metal shaper. It's running but needs some TLC. I have been searching the web for a manual on these things and they seem to be non existant. There are Lewis catalogs, but no manuals. They must have sent out some sort of documentation with the castings to tell one how to put it together and use it?

Does anyone have one or know where I might find one?
Thanks
Randy

I don't have a manual as such, but here's a couple of brochures you might find interesting. Did you look at lathes.co.uk? The cream-coloured shaper on this page http://www.lathes.co.uk/lewis/ is actually mine on the day I bought it. They don't have any manuals listed, but it's a good site.

Thanks Hawkeye, but I already found those. Vintage Machinery has them too, but nobody has the build or operating manuals. Even Ozark and the other for pay manual places don't have them. There has to be one somewhere

Hi Randy,
i don't have the documentation you are looking for, but i do have a PDF's of general shaper operation.
it may or may not answer some questions you may have, but is not specific to your shaper.
i hope you find something useful in the PDF's

is that the Lewis one I was seeing in for sale in the CraigsList for Friendswoo TX. It looked fair on the pics.

Yup, that is the one. I was going to restore it, but realized that I would be upside down, if I put much effort into it. I've got too many projects ahead of it. So it's gatta go.

Try this guy."Ozarkwoodworker',com. He has more machine manuals than you can count, both wood and metal machines. Happy hunting Randy.
