Bear I think you have it, lathe stop

I'll go out on a limb and guess it's a stop for a turret lathe - has several pins, which can be set independently, one for each of the tools on the turret.

For sure a lathe stop. The large piece seems like it would be off a turret lathe. Neither one fit any of my lathes. I bet someone out there could use them.

The large item looks like a 4-position stop, but I have no idea as to what it would fit. The smaller item could be a cross-feed stop.

Turret lathe or Engine lathe.
Can you show us a pic of the finished flat or V which is attached to the ways?
Any stamps or embossed?
Size?

There is somebody somewhere who would really like to buy this stop!!

I see no identifing marks. I'm now thinking a stop for an engine lathe with a 4 position tool post as the stops are built into a turret on a turret lathe.

I've had several (well, at least three) multi-position carriage stops and have come to the conclusion that they are one of the most machine specific accessories around. And unlike things like steady rests, it's highly unlikely that anyone who didn't have the or a machine that it fit could determine whether it will fit another machine that he doesn't have handy to check. And the more stations (positions) one has, the worse the problem would be. I had a triple one once on which only two stations were usable, and to use it, you had to get the long stop and the short stop in the right order.

As someone else mentioned earlier, dedicated turret lathes, bed turrets and tailstock turrets generally have their own stops. What the multi-position carriage stops are made for (or at least one thing they're made for) is for use on lathes with double tool-post cross slides, which typically come with a 4-way turret tool post.
