The data points will give you a base line and map out how consistent and repeatable the chuck is. If the chuck is constantly biased toward one side/jaw then it gives you a direction on where to investigate the problem might be. If it is all over the map then it is a little hared to diagnose.

I shifted the jaws in the slots (2 positions)and now down to .005" TIR on the 1" TGP, so good enough for me!

Sounds like the jaws were not indexed in the correct order?

Thanks for the clarification.

The slots, jaws and jaw faces are stamped with what I thought should be corresponding/matching fit up. Perhaps they were mis-stamped(?), not meant to be matched(?) or they have a different meaning than an indexing order(?).
