New Hydrashift Owner

That does look sharp. I might end up doing something like that.

I replaced the missing feet with something resembling the stock feet and got it leveled--which took a lot more time that I figured it would.

I took the head cover off to try to find out why it make the screeching sound when I brake the spindle. Turns out the noise was coming from the small box at the top. When the brake is applied the fluid gets diverted out the black pipe and the flow is erratic like a valve is oscillating or something. It can be adjusted, so I backed it out a few turns and the sound went away and the flow was nice and steady. However, now it's having trouble shifting into some speeds. I'll get back in there and split the difference and see what it does.

Thanks for all the good advice guys. Helps a bunch.

Sounds like you have a good handle on it. Assuming you have the same parts manual I have, there is a pressure setting procedure in the maintenance section. All you need is a pressure gauge.

Yep, plenty. The lathe is back in good working order.

I had to completely remake the feed handle. Not perfect but I'm happy with it. Took me several tries, but it finally got done.

I've been staying busy just learning the basics--grinding tool bits, speeds/feeds, learning to make threads, etc. Also been doing more work on my bridgeport--getting some power feeds installed that will require some modifications and new parts.

Sweet looks good to me. Hurry up and learn threading so you can teach me!
