Hey. As the the title says I am looking for a old damaged, broken milling machine table. The bigger the better. I am looking to make a precision welding table and start with a old mill table. I need a very flat true surface for welding up precision parts and would also like a long surface plate for inspection of long parts. I happen to be looking for a new hand scraping project any how. I also recently built/ modified a power scraper that happens to work amazing, so the thought of scraping a large mill table to reasonable flatness is not scaring me at the moment. Which I plan on doing a write up about once I have a few finished projects using it anyhow I am hoping to find one for cheap/very cheap locally. I don't mind if it's rusted or chipped/mared any other caveat making it cheap. As long as it's cast iron and heavy I want it. I think the T slots would make for great fixtures and clamping. I would only be doing tig welding and most at low amps so the table would not be damaged one cleaned up. (North Bay Area ) Northern California 95472 Sebastopol ca. I just know someone has one rusting about somewhere. Maybe even make a trade for one. I have tons of tooling/tools and precision measurement tools. All kinds of stuff that machinist like. Lol. Anyhow I thought I would put it out there and see if I get lucky. By the way if anybody is looking for a big precision welding / fabrication table there is one being currently sold on the California Bay Area Craigslist in San Francisco, that is 3ftx6ft and made of cast iron and made by precision scraping co. Seller says the original I Max projector was built on it. Listed for $1500. Wish I could rationalize giving the space up for it. It's the niciest table I have ever seen. Lol.
Thanks.

Sounds like the scrapyard/recyclers would be the place to go for something like that.

I found a old Muriel Virtical band saw in the scrap
Yard bought it for $150. It weighed 2450 lbs
I striped it down to just the table . And legs all solid
3/4" cast iron plus . I sanded and painted it .
I was going to make a welding table but changed my mine after I got it fixed up . Now it is the center piece in my shop . It has to weigh between 800 to 900 lbs right now after striping everything off of it the I did not want .
Best workbench I have ever had
