Does anyone know what size ball bearings are used in the Albrecht 3-16mm, 1-13mm and 0-5mm classic keyless chucks? Royal wants $15 for each set when McMasters has most metric sizes for less.
I emailed Albrecht and haven't gotten a response. I will call Royal Products and maybe they will help.
Thanks

Thanks, but they don't list the bb sizes.

Yea, Brooks, those are the chuck capacity sizes listed. Emilio, are you still using the chucks? If not, take them apart and measure the balls. They will no doubt be a standard metric size. You can probably get them from multiple suppliers cheaper than from McMaster-Carr, but I checked VXB and they only have ceramic loose balls. First you need a size, then you need to find some. Albrecht balls might be cheaper than McMaster-Carr, both those companies are kinda pricy. I rebuilt a 3-16 mm Albrecht chuck, but the bearings were good and I did not size them. Maybe others here have some chucks apart...

The 0-1.5mm chuck. Uses 1.2 mm bb, and that is not a standard size, so those need to be purchased from Albrecht.
$14 for 15 bb's.
Thanks

As far as I have found out ,they are 4mm but the closest in Imperial would be 5/32", the only drawback would possibly be that, since the 5/32" is smaller, I'm not sure if the difference is significant enough to interfere with chuck assembly/performance.
that drive pin must fully seat in it's place,, but the genuine 4mm balls will fit without any doubt.

I'll check when I get home. I have to xtra bearing ball sets for a few Albrecht's. IIRC, some Chuck's use a non standard metric size. They are all available from MSC.
They cost around $10 per set whereas McMaster only sells lots of 25 or 50 for more money.
