I have an atlas 6" lathe in great shape and am just starting out. I think " think" I know the basics but I don't want to get any bad habits. Thanks for any help guys!!

There's a lot of information in the beginners forum. If you don't find what you're looking for there just ask away. This is a great bunch of guys who are willing to help you out.

I have a Clausing version of the 6" Atlas lathe. and I'm nominally an hour away from Columbus, though my travel is limited by family health problems, I'm more than willing to offer what help I can. PM me for email or phone no.

Thanks guys I can't stop reading on here. Love it!!

I'm trying a search but can't find the specific answer

What felt do I use in my 6"? I have heard I can use steel wool? But before I go half cocked I want to ask..

Thanks guys

I went to JoAnn Fabrics, bought a 12" square of bright green felt, cut it up and folded it four thick, It works, I don't know how acceptable it is, but it holds oil and wipes the ways before chips get to the saddle.

Cool is it the same felt for the git oilers? I assume it's not. I have also heard steel wool for the gits.
