Blocked And Insulted By Ebay!

I didn't see this mentioned in this thread so I'll do it. FYI There is a section on ebay where you can file a complaint about a seller or buyer.

Or, if you can't find that one (seems to be stock there)

look for BTB08-400BW

HOWEVER: They usually fail for a reason. Simply replacing that part may or may not fix the tool. Look at things that would make it draw more current. Dry gears, bad bearings, possibly faulty windings. Many things. But it's a cheap start if you wanted to try. Be sure and use some heat sink compound and get it mounted right on the heat sink. They will run pretty hot.

Correct . The only thing I can see is that it connects to the trigger ....which as far as I can see is not variable , it's just an on or off trigger switch ....and there is also a Hi/Lo switch on the side of the handle .
This is one of those things where it's bad to have OCD ...lol
I could just solder a jumper across it, have it be just "ON or OFF" and call it a day . I have a newer Milwaukee from around 2005 , this is just a spare . but noooo ...the "sickness" won't allow it .
I must fix this thing ....
Hi Subway, sorry taking so long to reply- so it looks like your saw is supposed to be a variable speed but it isn't working. So that transistor is actually a triac. And it looks like the trigger switch unit is actually bad, not the triac (your shorting test seems to confirm that)
I saw the switch unit on Ereplacement parts.com for about 10.50$
If the triac was bad you could use a NTE replacement like NTE5637. There's also a common type called BTA12-600 which I've seen often on Ebay.
I don't have those on hand at the moment. Sorry.
Mark

If the saw is a 6507, the triac you need is GE SC143D or equivalent.
That part is a 8 amp 400 volt unit. Might be a little marginal as far as reliability. Me, I would bump it up to 10 or 12 amp, 600 volt.
NTE5637 or maybe BTA12-600. It looks like his trigger switch unit might actually be the culprit though..a scope would be invaluable here.
Mark
Sorry Ken I know we're WAY off topic here LOL

Yes, yes we are Ken.....when we finish getting his saw running, I was planning on making it into a thread of its own. But yep...just a wee bit off track lol!

I got the triac . Hopefully it fixes it and. It only runs if I short the bottom two terminals WITH THE TRIGGER HELD ON ...so unless there's something else going on in the switch, maybe this will fix it . Dear lord i've taken this thread off topic . Sorry ...it's all in fun ...and thanks for the help Mark and Tony !
