I have an AXA QCTP and want to get a couple more tool holders. Is it important to get tool holders from same source/manufacture as the QCTP? Or do AXA tool holders from one company "normally" fit AXA QCTP from another manufacture.

Thanks,
Regis

If you have an Aloris toolpost, their older piston type toolpost (just called AX I believe) holders won't fit a wedge style AXA holder.

I have an Aloris AXA piston style and it does take AXA holders. But they may have made a smaller one not sure on that.

i have a aloris axa wedge type (i really try to buy american) however i bought 5 cdco holders for $10.00 each. new from cdco. two of the five fit. sent the others back. after 3 phone calls , my card was finally credited for the three. i was charged twice the postage to have them shipped to me than it cost to return the three. lost my postage to send them back. the post's were too tight to go on. bought a phase ll knurling tool; it also was too tight to go on. i now buy aloris holders from enco when they have 20% discounts and free shipping. i'll spend more; but, i will not buy china tooling ever again. i have a eagle rock knurling tool in the mail as i write this; and, i'm glad i spent the money for a american tool

I have an aloris wedge type and have many other brands of tool holders. they all fit. this doesn't help you but I had to answer. bill

They typically interchange on the wedge type but can be more problematic on the piston type. Porthos experience with his wedge type is the first I have heard of but the CDCO holders can be inconsistent. I recently ordered 12 BXA holders from CDCO and they all fit my Aloris and no-name import wedge QCTP.

I bought some of the CDCO ones and also had trouble with them fitting. The problem with them was that the back (the dovetail side) needs to be ground or milled down a small amount. I took about .020 off the back of them and they fit fine after that.
