Well been busy working on making my shop in habitable while waiting on the sparky i thought i would take a crack at geting the backplate off the sindle...

Well the lathe said no and i broke the fibre idler gear followed by the shaft!!!!
cant seem to find a replacement 60T Fibre gear

Sooo...... does anybody here have any gears for sale i could use?☺
The local gear cutters want oved $300 for a single gear made of delrin.

I'm not sure if you resolved your broken gear problem yet but here is a possible answer: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1767308 You just need to find a friend with a 3D printer. The resultant gear won't be strong enough to help you remove your back plate but 3D printed gears are fine for general use.

I posted that code in answer to a recent thread on the harrisonlathe yahoo group. I also uploaded a gear set of 47t/37t which can be used instead of a 127t gear for cutting approximate metric threads (47/37 = 1.27027027): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1771090

Hope this helps.
