For years I have stored my reamers, larger taps and drills in several drawers in a tool chest, loose and touching each other.
I have started adding more to my inventory as I get nearer retirement and plan on spending a lot more time in my shop.
So,
I was wondering what neat storage ideas the members on here have used over the years.
I'd like to be able to organize them somehow in order without them touching each other.
Some where a few years ago I saw some pics of different ways to store these items.
I have considered purchasing a new tool cabinet with roller drawers specifically for the storage and organization of these tools.
If you have pics of your reamer, tap and drill storage please share on here.....
Many Thanks,
Jeff in Hagerstown

My taps and dies live in a sweet, custom-designed, blow-molded case. You know, the one they came in. The kind where four of the smaller taps fall out of their designated home every time I put the case up on a shelf.

Which is to say I'm also interested in a better solution, especially as I am getting ready to build a new bench and toolbox below it, both specifically for machining use. Photos of your approach? :)

All my taps, reamers and drills live in indexes with closed cell foam between the rows. I like that they are all where they should be, are organized for quick access, the foam prevents contact between rows and all of it takes up as little space as possible. My larger morse taper drills are in protective plastic sleeves they came in.

I keep my reamers in sections that I cut from $5.00 wooden dish racks from Family Dollar. Before that I had stored them in cut down empty paper towel rolls. I store end mills and other tools 1/2" and under in test tubes. I store some upright in racks, and others laying down in drawers. The test tubes can also be nestled in the dish rack sections like the reamers. They cost about $0.28 for the larger tubes and $0.14 for the smaller ones on ebay.
