I'm in the fortunate position of having a Schaublin 70 Turret lathe and a Schaublin Oil Gun. The lathe is in the process of being set up and I wanted to lube it using the oil gun, naturally enough. Since the oil gun has been sitting for years, it no longer pumps oil. Obviously I need to take it to bits and clean out the accumulated grunge, replace "O" rings, any seals etc.
My question is, does anyone have any details of the required "O" rings, seals etc. I've had a look on the web and can't find anything. I tried to get onto the Yahoo Schaublin users group and gave up, it's about as user friendly as a really unfriendly place. So here we are!!

Being impatient, yesterday I carefully dismantled the oil gun, all the "o" rings seemed to be in pretty good nick, so I just cleaned everything as best I could, filled it up with ATF and gave it a pump. Amazingly, well I was amazed, it worked. I pumped a couple of fills of oil into a glass jar to see if the oil was clean. It was, so I gave the headstock bearings, and collet closer a squirt. No massive leaks, everything seems to work, so whacko the diddly-o, as they say. It's been left overnight in a jar to see if it automatically empties itself.
Wasn't that exciting!!

Sorry guys, no pictures. A progress report on the level of oil seepage seems appropriate however! I've kept the pump business end down in the glass jar, and it has leaked. In the four or so months, it's leaked about 5c.c., roughly 5 or 6 mm in the bottom of the jar, which is about 40mm diameter, so in real terms ...not very much! I'm pretty pleased.
I'll ask the boss, a.k.a. Photographer in Chief if she would take some photos, but don't hold your breath!
cheers
