4x6 Horizontal Bandsaw Recommendations

I'm not able to get to mine right now but I think it's about 3' height counting the motor when closed. I was able to get mine when it was on sale AND with a 25% coupon. I love mine. Definitely a worth it purchase.

I don't have easy access to an HF bandsaw, and the different brands vary somewhat in their dimensions. But I've worked up 3D models of several of them for an article I'm writing. Here are the dimensions of a King bandsaw, including the tin base [both of mine are on custom bases that I built]. The belt cover (not included in the model) extends about 7" above the top of the upper casting in the end view. The motor sticks out about 8" past the right end of the upper casting in the side view. Hope this is of help.

Tremendously so. I'm setting up the bench for the mill and I was worried that these would be closer to 36". I can work with 31.4". :)

Thank you!

One more thing to be aware of if you're bench mounting ... when you rise the upper frame, the motor, cantilevered on the opposite side of the pivot rod, will end up about 4-5" below the bottom of the lower casting.

I'm putting the mill on the bench. And possibly the lathe or surface grinder as well. The saw would be stored below it. Mounting it to a bench had honestly never occurred to me.

Ah.... active HM member, Dave Smith, Rochester MN has a couple really nice saws for sale. You might contact him.
Really nice!!
If you are to far away, my wife and I are planning a long haul road/camping trip in late July. You aren't that far away. We could ruck them for you in exchange for a shop tour and a cup of coffee.
Either would fit in the bed of my p/u.

That is a very generous offer! I told my wife about it and she said, "Who are these people?!?" We've been thoroughly impressed with everyone in this community.

I'm not currently in the market for a saw. Round column mill is coming soon and I have almost nothing for it, so that is a much higher priority right now.

A shop tour would be fun, but very brief. And if there's more than one visitor you would have to take turns... :)

I was at Harbor Freight today and was able to take some measurements of their floor model 4x6 bandsaw. PM me if you want them.
