Hey everyone I'm trying to wire my enco 110-2075 to a drum switch. Basically just pulled the power supply and the motor wires off the control board and wired them directly to the drum switch. The motor and capacitor get real hot and hardly turn but I am getting forward and reverse. Also the diagram on the motor casing shows 6 wires but there are only 4 leads that come out the casing. Any ideas? The motor was running fine before I did all of this but the spindle switch was bad and would only go in one direction.

Are you able to go back to the original connection? I would do that first and verify the motor and cap are not heating up then I could help you hook up the new switch. What type of machine is this? Lathe?

Never mind I looked it up, 12x36 lathe and I have the diagram here for it. So are you bypassing the contactors when you wire up the drum switch? Not sure if that is possible considering all the connections involved. Post back and I'll try to help figure it out.

six wire would indicate to me, first, dual voltage single phase, 2-start, 4-run. Four wires would say single voltage single phase, 2-start, 2- run. Next you must sort them out with an ohmmeter, continuity check, wire markings, whatever. good luck.
