Well, I stopped there on my way home today thinking maybe, just maybe, I can score a deal like that again. And they had a 10-3 length hanging there AGAIN. Incredible. And the same guy was working. So I ask him how much and he looks at me puzzled. He says, "that's not 10 gauge, that's 8", and he started to write it up. I politely correct him and showed him where it said "AWG 10-3" on the side. He says they don't sell 10-3 by the foot. Scrolls through the machine to verify that's still true. The length didn't even match what was on the shelf.

So he gave it to me. 20 feet. I needed 12-15. He even walked me out the door to make sure no one gave me crap about it.

I really like that guy. :)

sometimes a quart of his favorite beverage will go a long way, but maybe not in utah. . .
 
Not in my shop, but into it. Auction. 9" Craftsman band saw, 6" craftsman bench grinder. Yes, auction. They must have been display pieces. No tool rests on the grinder, no little square piece to fill the hole around the blade which was gone. Neither tool had ever been used. Square corners on the grinder wheels, no dust in the band saw. It had a $179.00 price, both cost (total) $65. The saw is all put together, tthe tool rests are planned.
 
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and machining in general. I recently purchased a lathe and mill and have begun what seems like it will be a long fun process of making stuff out of metal.
I spent a few hours today making a brass scribe, kinda based off a popular YouTube video on the MAKE channel and kinda off my drafting pencil. I didn't take many photos in the process but here are some photos of my work.
