I'm suppose to be up in the Adirondacks camping until Wednesday . Took off work , had everything loaded and canceled my trip this morning . I checked out the extended weather forcast and it said RAIN . Rain until next JULY it seemed like . Dangit . So back to work I go Monday without my planned getaway . I might just have to use the new classified section here being I have off for 2 days . I'm sick of the rain though ...............rant over .
 
It is dry here as well, My thing is they should pay those guys by how often they are right, but wait a min, here they get payed good , it is always hot, dry and humid.
 
Finally got some sun here today in NY, weather has been horrible and cold. Been working in the basement to finish it up now that the bathroom down there was approved. Takes forever for joint compound to dry in this weather.
 
That is where you need some circulation fans to help it dry, But the slower it dries the better it seams to do with out cracking or at least is seams that way to me.
 
As you said, if you accelerate drying, the material shrinks faster and cracks.
I sometimes mix in some plaster of paris. This hardens it and speeds up setting. But, often, the surface finish isn't as good.
In this case, I am putting on a second coating anyway, so I let it harden slowly. It will be dry by tonight.
No rain here until Friday they say.
 
got a little yesterday, and do not think it will rain till next week. but even 150 miles from the gulf coast it seems more humid here than it is at the coast all the time.
 
Yesterday was the first day it was sunny all day in about the past 3 weeks but this morning we had frost warnings. Supposed to hit 70 today after astart of the high 30's.
