New Sidney Lathe Needing Parts

Probably the carriage drive. And if it is the only additional shaft between the headstock and the carriage, the cross feed.

Four shafts total and yes it was the carriage drive

I can't remember for sure, but some of the much older lathes may only had one half of a half nut. As for the thread dial, the older lathes were not equipped with a threading dial. This is something that started showing up on lathes in the late teens early 1920's.
Please post some pictures. That would very much help us out here trying to help you out. On another note, I believe Monarch Lathe wound up buying out Sidney Lathe.

I meant to say that's where the pictures were. It was made in 1940

I saw your pictures a moment ago over in the other antique machinery section.
It definitely uses two half nuts or a set. I mentioned that Monarch Machine Tool may own them now. That is not correct. According to Vintage Machinery's website, they pretty much went out of business and disappeared.
You cold cut threads with one half of a half nut if the lead screw is well supported. It didn't look that supported on your apron.
Since you have one half to work with, it would be very easy to duplicate a new set. I've seen it done. Lot of work and fabrication and welding of a weldment. Would require a mill and another lathe to cut the thread in. Once done, they would have to be split in half and finishing work done.

I don't have either half of the half nut
