After waiting forever to find a deal on a abene or dufour (or misal, lagun, Cindy... Etc) I bought a little vn12 for 700. 2 sets of collets, 4 arbors, shell mill holder, Kurt vise, some mills, a set of hold downs and it had the arbor support. Pulled it the 25 miles to the family farm with a scion xa, also known as my hatchback truck. By far the shortest haul ever for me. Good times had by all.

Looks like a nice machine, and the price was right. Got the key-way cutters you sent. Enjoy the new toy. Mike

Thanks! Hope you like the cutters. Owner didn't even bat an eye when I showed up in my dinky car. I love western PA. Everyone is as weird or weirder than me

Congratulations, you will quickly become a fan of your new VN. Your mill seems to be very well tooled; I think you could sell the tooling for more than you paid for the entire package. But don't, more tooling you have the better

Congrats! That's about the best deal that I heard of for a VN12. The seller could have easily gotten twice that amount.

Is it single phase or 3-phase?

Cal

Hi Cal,
It is 3 phase. I bought a cheapo 3 hp VFD a while ago which i'll hook up next time i'm at the farm. I should make a rpc, but the converter was quick, cheap, and i had it. I need a few wrenches for it, and i want to make some new bolts for the head, as the ones on it are recessed, and seem to be a pain.
funny little story: my mom was there to watch the unloading, she called it an ugly little mill, i told my mom that the mill heard her and she should apologize to it. my mom looked at me deadpan and said "when will you grow up?" ouch

Glad to hear you got her home!
You are gonna like her.
If there is anything I can help with from afar please let me know.

All I can say is that I'm extremely jealous ! Those are great machines, perfectly sized for hobby use, you got plenty of tooling and the price was incredible !
