Tcmt 32.51 Vs 32.52

Yep, a typo as 4/16 would make a 3/8 IC triangle nearly round (- :
Wasn't a problem, it chattered a bit when it reached the corner but would smooth it out if I let it spin there for a few revolutions.

Very stout 24 X 110 Trens lathe, on the CNC machines I would program the tadius usung the small tool.

I ordered a 10 pack of TCMT 32.51's. I think that's what I have now (they are not marked) so hopefully I'm right. I am down to the last couple inserts, so I figured it was time to order some more.
I have a smithy granite 1324, so those should work with it nicely.

I have a 2-1/2" face mill that uses TPG inserts. Some where back up the line I bought about 100 TPG324 coated inserts for about 50 cents apiece. They work nice in the face mill. I don't even think I've used up the first box yet!

Got the inserts in and I am glad to find out they fit! It took me forever to try and trace down what I thought these tool holders were and what size I thought these inserts were.
The TCMT 32.51 are exactly like the old ones. I went ahead and got coated inserts. Gonna see if they live up to the hype.

The inserts that came with these china tool holders were ink stamped with YC10. Searching that left me empty handed. So I will add this so maybe one day someone else may search and find this thread. The china YC10 marked inserts I had are TCMT 32.51.

Not to bring up this old post but I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I bought some tcmt 32.51 inserts and they are to big for my 3/8" holders. Yep I needed the tcmt 21.51 sigh... so what tool holder size should I get? Just a 1/2" or what? Thanks again for any help and sorry for the old thread.

The tool holder designation will tell you what size insert it takes. Generally the number after the dash, ie 2 for 21.5x inserts & 3 for 32.5x inserts.

You'll most likely need a 1/2" shank or larger tool holder. I've never seen a 3/8" shank TCMT holder fit a 32.5x insert. But 1/2" shank TCMT holders come both ways, for 21.5x or 32.5x so again you'd have to look up the tool holder designation or the description.

I had an inexpensive set from CDCO that I used with my old mini lathe. It was pretty decent quality and only $35.

You are correct they do not fit the 3/8" holders I have as stated in my post I was just wanting to make sure the 1/2" would work. Thank you for the info I really appreciate it.

If you look at the 1/2" set of 5 turning tools from CDCO, they take the 32.5X inserts. I know because I have that set and use those inserts in them. Hope this info helps. :D
