WTB Belleville washers

Thanks Randy , Rustrp.
I need the Id to be closer than .125 the thread major is .111 , .125 would be loose for this application
I ordered 100 18-8 SS washers with an Id of .112 from bolt depot ,hoping I can form the cone, turn the od , temper . 100 pcs $1.90 shipping $4.00
Good luck with the temper on the 18-8 because it's on the low end of any significant heat treatment, if at all. You can work harden it but any heat will zero that out. If you want to temper step into the 403, 410, 416, 420 series.

+1 On Rustrp
Probably better off not trying to heat treat, but make use of the work hardening already from forming your cone.
Otherwise internal toothed washers should do the job

Cheers Phil

I would buy a stack that is close to what you need. If the OD is to large just put a nut and bolt through the center of them chuck the bolt up in the lathe and turn them to the correct OD. If the ID is to small, drill them out or bore them.

What is Belleville washer ???
It's a spring washer that is used to keep tension on something bolted. I use them daily with my job. We put them on the packing studs for valves in order to keep load on a packing set. They work really well especially for a throttling valve.

Am I thinking right here? If the OD of the belleville washer is tight against a shoulder it will not expand as the washer compresses and will loose the "springy" action. The same goes for the ID if it starts out tight against a bolt or shaft.

The od is not restricted , it is an esthetics , looks thing.

No luck , bolt depot #4 washers Id is not .114 it's more like .124. Going to try finding #3 washers when I cone them maybe the Id will open up to .112 .
A few years back I made a bunch of these things and the Belleville washers were easy to find then
Not so much nowadays
The search goes on
