Perhaps a Newbie question. Why is there no lock on the compound slide other than tightening the gib?
If the gib is snug, is there no concern of slight movement? Has anyone seen an added lock for the compound slide?

Actually, I had been thinking of adding one to my Grizzly G0602. It shouldn't be that difficult. Here is what I intend to do.

Tighten the gib screws to lock the gib. Clamp the compound in your milling vice so the slide is vertical and the gib adjustment screws are aligned with the x axis of the mill. Locate the centerline of the adjustment screws and zero the y axis.

Move to the desired location of the lock screw. and drill a pilot hole for the locking pin. Do not drill through to the gib! Select an appropriate end mill and finish the hole and spot face the gib.

Remove the slide and gib and enlarge the hole to tap drill size if necessary and tap the hole. Do not run the tap completely through so there is a length of unthreaded hole for the pin. I am thinking a .125 dowel pin with 10/32 screw.
