While not a replacement for a CNC lathe and being conservative with the size of my work pieces (small), I've had excellent results using my mill as a lathe (mill turning) attaching the work piece to the spindle using a collet and securing the cutting bit in the mill vice.
So, I purchased a R8 lathe chuck for the spindle. While the chuck inserts into the spindle and tightens down, I'm finding
rotational "slop" (approx 10 degrees) when the drawbar is tightened down. Out of concern, I'm not going to use this lathe chuck for turning.
Is there a specific chuck availiable that would eliminate this "slop" ?
Thanks
